Nottingham Castle is a magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle, with spectacular views across the city. A museum and art gallery houses collections of silver, glass, armour and paintings, and explores 1500 years of Nottingham’s history. The gallery also bring hosts temporary exhibitions of national and international artist’s work.

The Castle is a great place for children, with interactive displays, and an activity led gallery bringing paintings to life. For the under 5’s there’s a medieval style playground in the grounds with a covered picnic area.
Nottingham Castle is also home to the Sherwood Foresters Regimental Museum – a small but informative museum charting the history of the local regiment.
The Castle grounds attract a large number of visitors each year, not only providing a place for quiet reflection but also hosting a number of events including historical re-enactments, the Outdoor Theatre season and the Robin Hood Pageant. 

Castle Cave Tours
Underneath the Castle are many manmade caves and tunnels, some of which date back to medieval times.  Descend through hundreds of years of history, learning on the way gruesome tales about Roger Mortimer and King David of Scotland.
The Café is on the ground floor, with access to the East terrace with its panoramic views of the city. It is open daily and offers a wide range of meals, snacks and refreshments.
The shop at Nottingham Castle sells contemporary crafts, fine art books, postcards, posters, cards and small gifts.
