Top 10 ten places to visit in the Midlands – Shropshire

The vibrant border market town of Oswestry sits between the patchwork plains of Shropshire and the mountains of Wales.

Voted one of the ‘coolest places to live in England,’ the combination of a charming medieval town and an eclectic mix of independent shops and fine eating establishments creates a special ambience.

There is no better place to begin than The Oswestry Visitor and Exhibition Centre. Wander round one of the oldest schools in the country and imagine the scholars studying in the quaint schoolroom or just enjoy the exhibitions by local crafts people and artists.
Some things to do in Oswestry:

Visit the Qube Gallery
Qube is a fully accessible creative centre which acts as a forum for ideas, a place to involve everyone, a show space for new work, a gallery for emerging and established artists and a link to other centres of arts learning and practice.

The Qube Gallery also houses part of ICT Graphics a multimedia department that runs courses in creative technologies as well as taking on commissions and providing resources for artists and designers.

Qube has developed partnerships with galleries in other rural areas of Europe. This has seen the exchange of exhibitions with Museo Anton in Candas, Asturias, Spain and the major European touring exhibition Extramuros – Art Outside the Walls.
